When Leigh Clark, a self-confessed random acts of kindness activist, got engaged, she decided she wanted to use her special day to bring a little happiness to others.

Prior to their big day, 36-year-old Clark and her finance James, 41, asked all of their guests if they would participate in one random act of kindness to celebrate the wedding.

From a friend who gave up her upgraded seat on a plane so a family could sit together to another who paid for dinner for a couple sat at a nearby table in a restaurant, Clark said the random acts of kindness came pouring in and from them emerged stories that both were incredible and heart-warming.

“Emily Schairer, a bridesmaid, and her daughter Chloe took pet supplies to a local animal shelter,” Clark wrote on her Huffington Post blog.

“As animal lovers with two cats of their own, they wanted to do something special in honor of our furry friends.”

Clark’s maid of honour treated the beauticians at her local nail salon to doughnuts and her sorority sister baked cookies for her local UPS driver and his crew. Another guest got her children involved and they all donated supplies to a local women’s shelter.

“As for James [her fiancé] and I, we delivered flowers from our wedding to local hospital patients and nursing homes,” wrote Clark. “We have also taken various decor from the day and made them into surprises and delights to hand out to strangers.”

Clark explains that both she and James were “incredibly grateful” that their guests decided to spread love and kindness in honour of their big day.

“Our gratitude for the love we have for one another, and for those in our lives, was magnified that day. The best way we could share our love with the world was by spreading it through kindness onto others,” she wrote.
