Costco Customers Called Out for Rearranging Bakery Items With Their Bare Hands: 'Disgusting'
There's something going on at the Costco bakery and it's far from sweet. On social media, dozens of people are coming forward to share frightening stories of bad bakery behavior from fellow customers.
It all began when a user on Reddit shared the disturbing tale of witnessing a couple opening various containers of croissants and swapping out the croissants with their bare hands to get "the optimal purchase."
"Never seen something so nasty in my life. And yes they were not wearing gloves or using protective tongs or anything," they wrote.
Throughout the comments section, users questioned if workers were alerted to the sketchy croissant-swapping and also wondered why packages aren't sealed with a sticker. Others suggested that customers should have their Costco memberships revoked for such actions.
"I think people should get their memberships revoked for messing with the food, abusing the return policy or leaving food around when they decide they don’t want it," one person wrote.
"I would happily volunteer my time to go through footage and contact these people to revoke their memberships," another user added. Another had a simple solution: "Mandatory jail time."
And it isn't just the Costco bakery that's prone to bad behavior from customers. Other Reddit users chimed in with their own gross-out shopping experiences.
"I went with my kids yesterday and we saw 6 (SIX!!!) instances where people left refrigerated items around the store. 1 of the 6 were opened food," one person pointed out.
"What would be the penalty for diagonal cart parking in the middle 0f the aisle?" another user asked.
"I saw some lady open all the rotisserie bags so she could get a better look and then just leaving them on the display unzipped," shared yet another unfortunate shopper.
Yet another refreshed our memories about a cultural low point: "Reminds me of how it became a viral thing for people to open ice cream containers in stores and lick them. And it became pervasive enough that more and more ice cream retailers are wrapping the lid with plastic now."
Have you witnessed any ban-worthy shopping behavior at your local Costco—or elsewhere?
