My favourite Columbia winter boots are on sale right now — why they're great for slippery Canadian winters

The saying "there's no bad weather, only bad clothing," accurately describes my relationship with Canadian winters. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I've always enjoyed winter...just from the comfort of my own home.

But I rediscovered my love of the outdoors and colder weather once I found winter apparel that helped me conquer the elements comfortably (and for a reasonable price) — like my favourite winter boots from Columbia.

The Keetley Winter boots are made from Omni-Heat Inifity and Omni-Tech performance fabrics to help keep your feet both warm and dry as you brave the elements.

Although they’re a short boot and not ideal for deep snow, they’re designed to take on winter terrain thanks to Adapt Trax for wet-to-dry traction with a thick tread pattern for better grip.

What I like about them

The Keetley Shorty Boots are perfect for anyone looking for the warmth and comfort of a true winter boot without having to look as though they're heading into the tundra. They're not heavy on your feet and can be worn with jeans or leggings for a casual day-to-day look that's perfect for running errands, walking my two dogs or chasing my toddler around outside.

As someone paranoid about falling, I really like that these boots feature a thick sole with a hefty tread. They're not the dressiest pair of boots but they're practical and warm, which are two things I value at this stage of life.

What I don't like about them

I'm a big fan of these boots, but the faux-fur detail can be fickle under some of my jeans. It's a rugged, sporty addition to the boot and stylistically, I get what the design was going. It's not a deal breaker, but it's my one grievance with the design.

Verdict

If you're looking for a boot to wear for your commute or while running errands, the Keetley Shorty Boots might be for you — especially at their sale price. They're my go-to for day-to-day wear and have helped me navigate the icy winter terrain and have kept my feet toasty warm on mad dashes to daycare and the dog park.

Although I have zero complaints with the boots, some people cautioned to be mindful of the sizing, since they can run small.
