Coca-Cola Has 6 New Flavors for a Limited Time
“Are these new? Because they are so yesterday.”
The only thing better than the taste of a crisp, fountain soda is being able to customize it yourself. People have been mixing soda for years, but in 2009, Coca-Cola launched Freestyle machines, which took flavor blending to the next level. The bright red machines are stocked with numerous soda bases and fruity syrups which customers can use to create their own beverages or choose from a curated selection of flavors that aren’t typically found in stores.
While Freestyle machines already have a lot to choose from, Coca-Cola continues to update its offerings with limited-time specialties including Olympics-themed flavors and its Tropical Holiday lineup.
Now, Coca-Cola has created six new flavors inspired by the internet's early years when Y2K was the buzzword and we had to wait ten minutes for a single video to download.
The Internet’s Favorite Mix Freestyle Flavors
Next time you fill up your cup at a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, you’ll be treated to a taste of nostalgia. The company just launched a collection of new flavors inspired by internet culture from the ‘90s and early 2000s. The Internet’s Favorite Mix includes six flavors: Fanta Lime In My DMs, Sprite CherryBaby101, Sprite Orange Goin’ Viral, Fanta Citrus Chatbox, Coca-Cola Vanilla Peach Luvr, and Coca-Cola Tropical Vlogg.
Food insider @markie_devo recently shared the news with followers, writing “It’s 2025, of course we have Coke that tastes like Windows 98.” In the comment section, users enjoyed poking fun at the soda names, with one person quipping, “Are these new? Because they are so yesterday.”
Overall, the new Freestyle flavors are getting positive reviews. “I work at Wawa been drinking the peach vanilla Coke allllll shift it's delicious,” wrote one fan. “Wawa has them and the lime one is sooo good. Highly recommend,” added another.
The Internet’s Favorite Mix is drawing some criticism, however, from people who feel the flavor names are vague. Others find them to be a poor representation of the time period. ”They all look good but those names are clearly pandering to Gen Z. Very cringe,” said one Redditor, a sentiment echoed by many others on social media.
And while it’s true that no one was referring to messages as “DMs” in the ‘90s and Vlogging didn’t really take off until 2005 when YouTube was created, we can all appreciate the playful names and nostalgic vibes that Coca-Cola is bringing to our cups. And, at the end of the day, we care more about how they taste.
The Internet’s Favorite Mix is available from Jan. 7 through March 3 at restaurants with Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines. So, next time you stop in for Wendy’s 2 for 7 Deal, be sure to take a trip back in time with Coca-Cola’s newest offering.
