Between all the extra entertaining, cooking, and cleaning that comes with the holidays, seasoned hosts understand the importance of embracing shortcuts and cleaning hacks whenever possible. After all, it’s a lot of work having people over. And, even after you’ve successfully pulled off a Pinterest-worthy dinner party or craft night in, and everyone has gone home, you’ve still got the least enjoyable chore ahead of you: Cleaning up after everyone.

The last thing you want to do after spending hours on your feet is dealing with the piles of dirty dishes and half-full wine glasses at the end of the night. However, if you enjoy entertaining and embracing your inner Martha Stewart, you can still prioritize self-care by delegating this unpleasant task to someone else — I just found out you can hire a TaskRabbit to clean up after you host a party.

While it might seem obvious when you think about it — after all, you can book TaskRabbits to clean and declutter your home in general — it’s a game-changer if you don’t have the time or energy to get your home back to square one after a big New Year’s Eve bash or a white elephant exchange. And I’m apparently the last to know about it, because according to TaskRabbit’s 2024 trend report, they’ve experienced a 20% increase in customers hiring taskers to help with party cleaning.

As with all TaskRabbit booking requests, how much you pay depends on the tasker’s rates and how much work there is. When I looked into the cost of a cleaning for my 600 square foot one-bedroom, based on how deep of a clean I wanted and what equipment the cleaner might need, it looked like it was around $40 an hour to hire someone, which is basically the cost of two Ubers — but some taskers also have minimum hours to take into consideration.

Considering all the miserable day-afters I’ve spent cleaning up after a gathering at my home, I can’t wait to try this hack the next time I host a party.

TaskRabbit also noted that people are increasingly hiring taskers to take care of party-related tasks (a bump of 40%), like decorating, shopping for groceries, and even sending out invitations. So, if you don’t mind washing up dirty dishes, but you’re stressed out by the prospect of putting together the perfect tablescape or even cleaning your home before your guests come over, you can always hire someone to help make the pre-hosting process go so much more smoothly.
