As the Kansas City Chiefs play in their third straight Super Bowl, all eyes will once again be on quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Cheering him on will be his wife, Brittany, who has been by his side since 2012. Here, get to know Brittany Mahomes.
She’s from Texas.
Brittany, born Brittany Matthews, is the daughter of Diana Lindenberg and Scott Matthews. Diana and Scott divorced when Brittany was young. She has one brother, Devin, who worked in the U.S. Navy as a Missile Technician.
Brittany attended Whitehouse High School in Texas, where she met Patrick when he was a sophomore and she was a junior. They attended prom together way back in 2013:
Brittany and Patrick kept dating in college; she went to University of Texas at Tyler, where she played on the women’s soccer team, while Patrick went to Texas Tech, where he played both college football and baseball.
Brittany played professional soccer.
Patrick forwent his last year of college eligibility to enter the NFL draft; Brittany graduated in 2017 with a degree in kinesiology, and signed with the Iceland pro team of UMF Afturelding/Fram.
“I didn't even see myself playing college soccer when I graduated high school,” she said at the time. “However, I ended up coming to UT Tyler to play soccer because it was close to home and I knew a few girls that played here that loved it and told me I need to join the family. So I did, and these last four years have made me fall in love with soccer all over again and want to go on and play professional soccer.”
She continued, “Every coach I have had at UT Tyler made a huge impact on my love for this game and my decision to play professional soccer. An opportunity opened up for me in Iceland and I could never pass up such an amazing experience to go do what I love.” Brittany played just one season, making five appearances.
She’s a mom of three.
Patrick and Brittany married in March 2022.
They have three children: daughter Sterling Skye Mahomes (b. February 2021), son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III (b. November 2022), and newborn daughter Golden Raye Mahomes (b. January 2025).
Brittany is a co-owner of Kansas City Current.
She’s a co-owner of NWSL team Kansas City Current, and helped make the first stadium purpose-built for women’s soccer into a reality.
“I often say to our coaches or players that you have a platform. No matter if it’s a little or a big one, it’s what you do with that platform that changes lives, and Brittany has been given a massive platform now,” UT Tyler women’s soccer coach Stefani Webb told the Athletic. “For her to use that platform to change women’s sports in America is pretty impressive… I’ve been one of her biggest fans for using that platform not just for the good of Kansas City, but for women’s soccer across the world. You know, she’s setting a new standard, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
She’s dealt with a fair share of controversies.
She first garnered more widespread attention when she used her social media platform to call out the refs during games. In 2022, she sprayed champagne on fans, and later semi-apologized, writing, “I just wish I could do what I want without getting attacked every week.”
In 2024, in the lead up to the election, she showed support for Donald Trump on her social media—catching the attention of Trump himself.
“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” Trump posted on his Truth Social in early September. “With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless "leaders," it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM. What a great couple - See you both at the Super Bowl!”
