Chelsee Healey hints she’s been axed by Hollyoaks amid mass cast exits

Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healey has left fans fearing for her future on the show after a cryptic 'dark and heavy' post.

In March, The Sun claimed that Hollyoaks bosses are planning a major shake-up, threatening to axe up to 20 cast members. The actress recently made Instagram waves by posting a posh selfie accompanied with a heartfelt message about feeling "dark and heavy".

Chelsee, 35, updated her fans on her account story: "Been very inactive on here. Things are feeling a little heavy and dark at the minute. Staying [arm emoji] for my girls and have the best support around me. Hope everyone is well."

Chelsee, who had a brief stint on the show back in 2008, won her place as a main character playing lovable rogue Goldie McQueen in 2016.

Throughout her TV career, she has also impressed audiences with roles such as Janeece Bryant in Waterloo Road and Honey Wright in Casualty.

Sharing details about her personal life, the 35 year old recently sparked whispers of a secret wedding following the birth of her second child. Over the past two years, Chelsee has managed to keep her relationship with boyfriend, Eddie, under wraps until the arrival of her newest daughter.

Chelsee is a proud mum to her daughters Coco and newborn Cookie, who she gave birth to in December 2023. This news follows the announcement that Steph Waring, who has played Cindy Cunningham for 28 years, will be leaving the show.

She joins a growing list of stars leaving the soap following its decision to reduce airings to just three episodes a week on E4. The 46 year old actress, a stalwart on the soap, has confessed to being "heartbroken" over the news that she'll be hanging up her character's boots.

Alongside a video montage of her Hollyoaks highlights, Stephanie penned on Instagram: "I can’t believe I am writing this and I have taken the last two weeks to process and come to terms with the shock of what I am about to say.

"I am heartbroken to announce that my character of Cindy has been included in the actors reduction of Hollyoaks.”

This follows the emotional exit of Owen Warner as Romeo Nightingale earlier in the year and Ross Adams who plays Scott Drinkwell announced he has quit the soap despite being offered a contract.

On speaking about his exit, he revealed he wanted to try presenting. Ross said: “I’m excited just to see what else is out there.

“It’s been over 10 years since I last had an audition so just the thought of that is exciting. Also, when you’re at Hollyoaks you’re on first call to them – your priority is the show.”
