Cate Blanchett gives the staple suit a modern update
Neutrals have long reigned supreme in the world of fashion (in part thanks to TikTok's quiet luxury trend and viral 'clean girl' aesthetic), but greige certainly doesn't equal boring.
Cate Blanchett demonstrated just how monochromatic outfits can pack a big punch as much as their patterned rivals.
The actress gave a lesson in going for grey as she wore a smart-casual ombré suit, paired with chunky layered jewels.
Cate's two-tone suit used a fading technique to blur gunmetal grey into jet black, creating an unrivalled centrepiece.
Her chunky layered silver necklace added a touch of drama to her look. To finish it off, Cate wore a pink nude lipstick and dewy makeup.
Cate was attending a special screening to celebrate the 40th anniversary of cult '80s film, Sophie's Choice, at New York's Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday (6 February).
The psychological drama sees Meryl Streep take on the role of Zofia "Sophie" Zawistowska, a Polish immigrant arriving in America with a dark secret from her past.
Cate was joined by the likes of Uma Therman, Meryl Streep, and Claire Danes. Claire, too, opted for a monochrome suit for the occasion.
Claire's suit featured a flattering tie waist detail and 80s style shoulder pads. She paired the two piece with matching ankle boots and a slouchy black handbag, plus a gold chunky chain and a statement dark red lipstick.
