Cate Blanchett proves black is anything but boring with floral-finished jumpsuit

With two Oscars to her name (and a handful more nominations under her belt), Cate Blanchett needs an award-worthy wardrobe to match.

Fortunately, with the help of stylist-to-the-stars Elizabeth Stewart, she’s curated one.

Whether Blanchett’s at Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Globes or in London for the BAFTAs, she rarely puts a fashion foot wrong on the global stage

But that doesn’t mean she sticks to what’s safe. Blanchett’s red carpet looks are often bold and playful, featuring strong silhouettes and experimental embellishments, and always dramatic.

There are no LBD dresses in Blanchett’s wardrobe, but instead a colourful array of couture from the likes of Armani, Givenchy and Christopher Kane.

When black is her colour of choice, full-length gowns are accented with colourful embellishments, unique architectural structures or subtle lace detailing.

For the 79th annual Venice Film Festival this week, the actor demonstrated her fashion know-how in a velvet wide-leg jumpsuit by Schiaparelli, which featured a Bird of Paradise-style feathered embellishment around the bust.

From Oscar-acceptance attire to a covetable maternity closet, we revisit some of Cate Blanchett's greatest fashion moments to date.
