Can’t sleep? Many experts suggest trying a glass of warm milk to relax you. But now there’s a new kind of milk, which promises to up the ante on aiding sleep and reducing stress – all because it’s made from cannabis. Well, sort of..

Hemp milk is a species of cannabis made from crushing the seeds and mixing it with water. Relax by Rawligion, is a 100% organic hemp milk which contains cashews, dates, vanilla, and CBD oil (cannibidiol) oil. And it’s this magical ingredient that offers the anxiety busting benefits.

Unlike Marijuana, hemp contains low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the compound that causes cannabis users to see psychoactive affects. But though it won’t get you high or stoned, CBD oil reacts to the body’s endogenous cannabinoid system, which regulates the body’s general state of balance and therefore has an impact on mood, sleep, hormone regulation and pain levels. Hence having a more relaxing effect on sleep and relaxation than a luke warm glass of cows milk.

As reported in Metro, Relax was created by the plant-based food company because of its medicinal benefits. “It’s used for a multitude of different health issues, including anxiety, cancer (particularly the side effects of conventional treatment), pain relief, depression, and sleep disorders,” Michael Isted, phytotherapist and development consultant for Rawligion told Metro.

According to those who’ve tried it the Relax milk tastes very similar to almond milk, others compare the taste of hemp seeds to that of sunflower seeds as they have a sweet, nutty flavour, though some describe the milk as having a slightly, cannabis-like aftertaste.

And milk isn’t the only product to try and harness the medicinal benefits of CBD oil. A company called Mary Jane Wines is helping people reap the benefits in wine form. The company makes small batches of cannabis-infused wine

Coming in both a Malbec and Chardonnay, the magical wine is made with sterilised hemp seeds and Cannabidiol extract. But it doesn’t come cheap and just half a bottle can set you back between $120 (approx. £98) and $400 (approx. £326).
