Natalie Quarry joined the cast of Call The Midwife for the 13th series of the hit BBC drama as student nurse Rosalind, who is now qualified and back helping the residents of Poplar in this year’s Christmas double episode. Rosalind moved into Nonnatus House with fellow newcomer Joyce (Renee Bailey), and like her character, Natalie was soon getting the hang of the births that are a regular feature of the series.

“During my first birth there was a gun involved, it was a lot,” Natalie told OK! earlier this year. “It was my second week of filming and truly was a baptism of fire, for me as well as Ros. Helen [George, who plays Trixie] knows so much about doing the births so I leant on her a lot of the time.”

“I used to be a fan of the show when I was a teenager,” she continued. “And watched it with my family. So it's such a weird, like, full circle moment to come and actually be in the show.”

The first series that Natalie appeared in was, like the Christmas episodes, set in 1969, so Natalie was hoping for some fun costumes to wear but it wasn’t to be. “Ros, she's quite a plain girl and at first I was disappointed that I didn’t get to wear certain things,” confessed Natalie. “Like Nancy's got all of the sixties clothes and Ros doesn’t. But she does have a really nice, preppy girly way of dressing that suits her.”

So far, there have been no romances for Rosalind, but fans are hoping there may be a hint of blossoming love between her and Cyril (Zephryn Taitte), who has been left alone since his wife Lucille moved to Jamaica.

"Cyril needs a new love interest. A woman who actually loves him cuz Lucille wasn't it. He deserves an amazing life,” wrote one viewer earlier this year, while another commented: “"I hope they give him a new love interest, and I hope it is Rosalind.”

Meanwhile, in real life, Natalie has shared photos on Instagram of her partner Lewis Thorne, including a trip they went on to Seville together in the summer, and a wedding they attended last year in which she posted: “We love love!” She also shared photos of the couple’s trip to Deal in December 2022, writing: “5 years with the most wonderful person in the world.”

As well as appearing in Call The Midwife and the US TV series Atlanta, Natalie also has a role in director Steve McQueen’s latest movie, Blitz, starring Saorise Ronan.
