Call The Midwife co-stars Helen George and Olly Rix have reportedly grown apart after initially growing close when they both split from their respective partners. The pair, who portray a married couple on the BBC show, were rumoured to be sparking up a close bond off screen earlier this year.

But it looks as though their rumoured romance could be coming to an end as eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Olly, who plays Matthew Aylward, has unfollowed Helen, 39, who portrays Trixie Franklin, on Instagram.

Olly also removed a selfie with her from his Instagram account, sparking distance between the pair even further. The pair were last seen together in November leaving Olly's West London residence - not long after Helen announced her split from Jack Ashton, another Call The Midwife actor with whom she shares two children.

Around the same time, Olly had parted ways with his partner Natasha Fagri. However, a source has recently revealed to The Sun: "They were there for each other in the wake of their splits. But it seems they are no longer close and have made this clear by removing each other on social media. Olly even went one step further and deleted a picture of him and Helen from Instagram."

However, according to The Sun, Helen started following Olly again after her representative was contacted for a comment. OK! has contacted Helen and Olly's representatives for a comment.

In February, Olly didn't hold back his admiration for Helen as he cheered her on in the West End production of The King and I. He was full of praise for her performance, calling her "amazing and fantastic.", reports the Mirror.

After the show, at a late-night bash, Helen was reportedly greeted with a warm hug and a peck from Olly. A party-goer shared at the time: "Helen made a beeline for Olly as she arrived at the after-party."

They continued: "The pair spent all evening together with Olly putting his hand on her back as she chatted to her fellow cast members. At one point, two people switched seats on a sofa so Olly and Helen could sit next to each other. He was clearly very protective of Helen as he put his hand around the back of her chair."

They added: "Helen wanted to stay out with her girls so Olly hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek before he left."

Other stars of the BBC drama including Jenny Agutter, who plays Sister Julienne, Megan Cusack, who plays Ann 'Nancy' Corrigan and Annabelle Apsion who stars as Councillor Violet Buckle, also attended the late-night party, which was held at the Arcade Food Hall and Bar. Helen arrived at the party at 11pm and left before 1am in a black minibus with a few pals before heading to the Phoenix Arts Club in Soho.

Chatting about Helen before the show, Olly told The Sun on Sunday: "She is amazing and fantastic in the role and born to play it. It’s great watching Helen on stage — it is the second time I have seen her. We all saw her in Richmond and quite a few of the Call The Midwife cast are here tonight which is always great fun."
