Britney Spears' ex-husband Jason Alexander denies she was drunk when they got married

Jason Alexander has denied Britney Spears' claim that she was drunk when they got married.

In her newly released memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney opened up about her 2004 55-hour marriage to Jason, claiming that they were both drunk when they got married.

"He and I got s**tfaced," the Toxic hitmaker wrote. "I don't even remember that night at all, but from what I've pieced together, he and I lounged around the hotel room and stayed up late watching movies... then had the brilliant idea of going to A Little White Chapel at three thirty in the morning."

Britney then made it clear that she and her now ex-husband were "not in love".

Jason has now denied Britney's claims, telling TMZ that they were "absolutely in love" and "weren't boozing" at the time of their Las Vegas nuptials.

However, in an interview with ABC News a decade ago, Jason confessed that he and the Circus singer had been under the influence at the time of their spontaneous wedding.

"Alcohol is a drug. Coffee is a drug. Cigarette is a drug," he told the outlet at the time. "Yeah, we were doing drugs."

He added that he had been in love with the pop star and assumed that the feelings were mutual.

"That was probably the hardest part about it," he said. "I had obviously got my feelings involved."

Later the same year, Britney married dancer Kevin Federline, the father of her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. They divorced three years later.

Her third husband, Sam Asghari, filed for divorce in August after fourteen months of marriage.
