Bride Charlene Couillard waited 20 years to have the father-daughter dance she always wanted and when the moment came, it was everything she could have hoped for.

The 47-year-old became estranged from her dad, John Sweezey, after her parents divorced. And the breakdown of their relationship meant that he missed his daughter marry husband Craig back in October, 1997.

But 20 years later, the couple decided to renew their vows in Fort Myers, Florida. And after reconciling with her dad a few years after their first nuptials, Charlene invited him to the intimate ceremony.

Donning the very same wedding dress (tarnished buttons and all) with her children in the crowd, Charlene walked down the aisle for the first time with her father.

And when Charlene and Craig stepped up for their first dance, it was a matter of minutes before the bride turned to her father and asked: “Can you dance or are you too tired?”

And despite his ill health, the 73-year-old didn’t hesitate to take on his fatherly duties and they swayed to Garth Brooks’ ‘The Dance’.

Noticing his daughter was shaking with emotion, he look at her and said: “I’m glad I could make it to this one.”
