Bride celebrates losing half her body weight by trying on old wedding dress
A bride who weighed 22st 13lbs (145 kilos) when she walked down the aisle, celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary by trying on her old bridal gown – after losing half her body weight.
Although it was the happiest day of her life, Australian mum-of-one, Belinda Brodie, struggled to find her dream dress and had no choice but to order a custom-made size 24 gown online.
But since tying the knot back in 2009, the 32-year-old has undergone an impressive transformation – shedding an incredible 76kg (12st 2lbs) and six dress sizes.
In order to celebrate, she decided to try on her wedding dress once more and this time, her eight-year-old son Oliver managed to fit inside it too.
“It was really emotional. It brought back the beautiful memories of our wedding day but also how hard it was to actually get a dress, due to my size,” Brodie said.
“There was so much extra room in the dress that I decided to see if Oliver could fit in the dress. It was a ‘wow’ moment for both of us.”

Back in September 2013, the Perth-based mum decided to change her life for good after struggling to keep up with her son on family days out.
“He was running everywhere, and I’d be sweating and totally out of breath. It was so embarrassing,” she admitted. “The next day I threw out all the bad things from my cupboard and started again. I began jogging each morning, and eventually joined a gym and went to fitness classes.”

By swapping her previously carb-heavy diet for a healthy eating regime packed with proteins, fresh fruit and leafy vegetables – she managed to lose 4st 10lbs in the first year alone.
Now, Brodie is in the best shape she’s ever been and practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes six times a week to maintain her newly svelte figure.
In order to have lasting memories of her transformation, her and husband Travis plan to renew their wedding vows next year.
“I am so proud of who I have become and what I have achieved,” she said. “My life had totally changed since I’ve lost the weight and I’m happier and healthier than ever.”
