The Boys season 3: When is Amazon’s biggest show returning after huge season 2 episode 8?
The Boys fans are concerned that the the hit Amazon show will be cancelled.
On Friday (9 October), the season two finale was released, featuring a huge superhero showdown as well as a cliffhanger ending.
The series, based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel series, has generated a cult fanbase since it began in 2019. The second season has been breaking records for Amazon since it began last month.
While fans are concerned the show won’t return for a third season, they have no reason to worry – The Boys will be coming back.
The news was announced by the streaming service in July, with the confusion generated by an article written by The Ringer earlier this week. It was headlined: “Glow is Canceled. Plus: The Good Lord Bird, The Boys, and Ryan and Musa from ‘Stadio’ on All or Nothing.”
This particular article was pegged to Netflix’s cancellation of GLOW, but some people were led to believe that The Boys had also been axed due to the wording of the headline.
This is incorrect; Amazon has a lot of hope for the future of The Boys.
While announcing its renewal, Amazon’s co-head of television Vernon Sanders said: “Eric Kripke and the incredible cast of The Boys continue to deliver a wild and action-packed series full of surprises and can’t-miss moments that have made the series a global hit.
"We couldn’t be more excited to see where Eric takes The Boys and the supes in season three."
It’s unknown when the show will be broadcast considering the pandemic has halted several productions, but it’s expected to arrive on screen in 2021.
Den of Geek also reports that the streaming service is lining up a spin-off.
The Boys is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
