Calls for diversity in the fashion and beauty industries are never-ending. And while some brands listen, others are simply stuck in their ways.

Male beauty blogger, Georgie Aldous, is sick of excuses and hopes to kickstart a revolution. His Change.org petition aims to send a message to British brands that men deserve to be front and centre of their beauty campaigns.

After seeing COVERGIRL select James Charles as its first ever male spokesmodel last year, Georgie was inspired to see the same happen in Britain. “I realised that we still haven’t had something like that yet in England, and we needed to catch up. We’re definitely behind in terms of equality – America now has two male models on campaigns and we have none,” he told Metro.

He’s not wrong. The male beauty industry has been growing at an exponential rate over the past few months with more and more men showcasing their make-up skills on Instagram. Yet advertisements have yet to depict this change.

Georgie has previously reached out to brands about featuring male models but was simply told they’re “looking into it.” Undeterred, he hopes to give his petition to a number of influential brands once it reaches 500 signatures.

“In an ideal world, I would just like to see men having the freedom to shop for as much makeup as they desire, without stares or sneaky comments. I want kids growing up thinking you can express yourself in any way, including makeup, regardless of gender. We can’t do that without using male models.”

Too right.
