Blake Lively does method dressing in £16k floral jeans
Method dressing – dressing in tribute to your on-screen character in order to promote a film – is nothing new, but barely a press tour goes by these days without actors showing off perfect cinematic looks (Barbie, Challengers, Bridgerton, the list goes on).
Blake Lively is the latest star to join the trend, attending a Texas screening for her new movie It Ends With Us in headline-grabbing Valentino jeans. Costing a casual £15,7k, her statement denim was crafted from embroidered hibiscus flowers, with the fabric cut out to let the intricate detailing shine. Why? Because Blake plays a florist named Lily Bloom (got to love that nominative determinism).
Of course, jeans this magnificent simply had to take centre stage. So, she paired them with a simple ribbed white tank top and navy Louboutin heels. Diamond hoop earrings and a stack of bracelets finished off her lowkey but very expensive look.
Hotly-awaited by fans, It Ends With Us is adapted from the bestselling 2016 novel by Colleen Hoover. It is based on the abusive relationship between the author's mother and father, and she has described it as 'the hardest book I've ever written'.
'I love Lily so much...I just love her,' said Blake of her character during a recent Q&A for the annual Book Bonanza event. 'I think it's really important to love the character that you're playing and to feel the heart and soul of all the people around you. Every single person in this movie is a revelation.'
Following the screening, Blake shared a story to her Instagram feed showing Colleen, newcomer Isabela Ferrer (who plays a young Lily) and co-star Brandon Sklenar all also wearing jeans.
'Well, you finally got a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants sequel last night,' she wrote, referencing her hit 2005 movie about four best friends who stay connected during their first summer apart by passing around a hero pair of jeans that somehow fit them all despite their different body shapes. 'Except one of our sisters is looking extremely male.'
We have to wait until Friday 9 August for It Ends With Us to arrive in UK cinemas, but we have a feeling Blake's floral looks are going to keep us going until then.
