The Best Room At... The Jumeirah Carlton Tower
The Jumeirah Carlton Tower has been a beacon in London's Knightsbridge neighborhood since 1961, though its recent £100 million renovation might convince you it's a thoroughly modern masterpiece. Perched on Sloane Street and accessible to designer boutiques, Hyde Park's leafy serenity, and the cultural treasures of South Kensington, this haven has been welcoming guests to the heart of the capital for over six decades.
In addition to luxuriating in one of the hotel's 186 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, reimagined by acclaimed interior design studio 1508 London, visitors can savor Italian cuisine at Al Mare, indulge in the famous afternoon tea at the Chinoiserie, and rejuvenate at the Peak Fitness Club & Spa, home to London's largest naturally lit swimming pool.
"The hotel first opened its doors in 1961, when London was the epicenter of fashion, music, and the arts," says Gianluca Priori, the hotel's general manager. "A fun fact is that British fashion designer Mary Quant would host her rebellious photoshoots in the hotel, portraying Jumeirah Carlton Tower as young, modern, and unafraid of change. We still believe our roots have a significant impact on us in today's world. Always inspired by our past but eagerly looking to the future."
Here, we asked Priori about the best room inside the Carlton Tower Jumeirah, and the neighboring attractions that guests should never skip.
