The best hotels in the UK and Ireland, according to Michelin Guide
Renowned for presenting the world's most outstanding restaurants with Stars, Michelin Guide ventured into hotels this year, presenting Keys in France, Spain, Italy, Japan, North America and Thailand.
Today (1 October), after Michelin Guide Inspectors evaluated hotels with multiple anonymous stays and visits, 123 properties in the UK and Ireland received the sought-after Keys.
Claridge's, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, A Belmond Hotel, The Connaught and Lucknam Park were among the 14 hotels which received the prestigious three Keys for their extraordinary comfort, service and style.
London's luxury hotels dominated the list of three-Key hotels, with Raffles London at The OWO, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and The Peninsula London also receiving the Keys.
RED'S EXCLUSIVE LE MANOIR OFFER
There were 37 hotels awarded two Keys for their exceptional accommodation. These include Gidleigh Park in Devon, The Dorchester in London, Grantley Hall in Yorkshire, The Merrion in Dublin and Bath's Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa.
When it comes to the hotels offering a very special experience, there were 72 hotels that received one Michelin Key, including Flemings Mayfair in London, Palé Hall in Wales and The Swan Southwold in Suffolk.
The 123 Michelin Key hotels were awarded out of 350 British and Irish properties recommended in the broader Michelin Guide selection. They were handpicked by inspectors with no bias. Michelin paid for the anonymous visits and the Keys were awarded to hotels based on the experience they offer, not the brand name they might carry.
This new international benchmark of Michelin Keys, similar to Michelin Stars awarded to restaurants, guides travellers to the best accommodation that stands out for its unique hospitality, distinct character, warm welcome and extremely high level service.
