BBC primetime show that was packed with top celebs gets shelved - leaving fans devastated

Chris and Rosie

Bosses at the BBC have shelved a popular comedy chat show that was fronted by husband and wife team Chris and Rosie Ramsey.

The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show began on BBC Two in 2022, and was so popular that it was moved to BBC One the following year for a second series. However, a third series has now been put on pause due to a schedule clash, according to an insider who spoke to The Sun.

“The BBC absolutely love Chris and Rosie, they’re a hilariously entertaining duo but most importantly real,” the source said. “They want to continue producing The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show for audiences but due to schedule clashes, they can’t make it work right now.

"While the show has been paused for now, behind the scenes the BBC are continuing to look at ways the show can continue with Avalon [the TV production company].”

The show’s format had Chris and Rosie chatting to another celebrity couple about their relationship, covering everything from parenting to arguments to the little things that can irritate people in a marriage or partnership.

Their guests included Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp and his wife Shirlie, singer and actress Martine McCutcheon and her partner Jack McManus, Jack Whitehall and his father Michael, Ronan and Storm Keating, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, and brothers Adam and Ryan Thomas.

Chris and Rosie, who have been together for 12 years and have two children, Robin and Rafe, first became known together for their podcast, Sh****d, Married, Annoyed that they launched in 2019. It came about after Chris, already a successful comedian, recorded some Facebook Live videos from home to promote his new solo show that featured Rosie heckling him in the background. When he took to the stage at his show, Rosie’s Facebook appearances had become so popular that the audience chanted her name.

The podcast has been a huge success, leading to the pair selling out Wembley Arena in a day when they took their funny chats about life, love and everything to a live audience, and they also sold out the O2, the first podcasters to do so.

The couple continue to do the podcast every week – and have also published an accompanying book – and have other projects in the works. Chris also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, where he reached the semi final with professional partner Karen Hauer, while Rosie competed in the 2022 Christmas Special. The couple have also co-hosted Children In Need for the BBC.
