You gotta love a good Instagram trend.

So far this year we’ve had halo brows, the return of the mullet and the not so body positive hip cleavage.

And now the latest social craze to hit your Insta feed is ‘Barbie feet’.

First coined by fashion blog, Who What Wear, the term refers to an increasing number of celebrities and influencers arching their feet to give the appearance that they’re wearing heels, you know like Barbie’s permanent plastic pose.

Let’s face it the main reason people wear heels (often battling through the blisters in the process), is because they’re the most flattering footwear, helping to give the illusion that your legs are longer.

But when you’re barefoot, it’s difficult to create the same stature.

So the Insta-set have cleverly cottoned onto the fact that if you pose with your toes pointed up and your heels raised, you can create a similar heel-wearing stance.

Though some experienced ‘Barbie Feet’ posers are able to master the trick with both feet in imaginary heels, beginners wanting to try out the position should probably start with having just one foot in the pointed heel position.

Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Karsashian are just some of the ‘Barbie Feet’ professionals regularly trying out the pose on their platforms.

But as the summer rolls on and the beachwear selfies continue to flow, no doubt our feeds will be full of the pointy toed posse.
