Prue Leith recently gave some candid advice to younger people and addressed a "sin" that she says everyone should avoid.

The South African restauranteur and Bake Off favourite decided not to mince her words as she spoke to students at the Cambridge Union, warning them that she was "likely to offend people".

She opened up about the mental health issues facing people after the Covid-19 pandemic, suggesting that young people, in particular, were finding it difficult to manage life.

Prue hypothesised that much of it could be due to society's emphasis on what she described as "me, me, me." She claimed that younger people are constantly being told to consider themselves but should also think about other people.

She said: "There is a danger of mollycoddling and becoming unhealthy. That's not a very popular thing to say." However, the 85-year-old also had some advice for the younger generation, reports the Mail.

Prue added: "The most important thing is never to be bored. When you are young, you think it is quite cool as you are shy and unsure. It is really disastrous.

"So don't be bored. It is a sin to be bored. If you are sat at a dinner party next to some old codger and he is going on about his greenhouse, then question it."

However, it wouldn't be the first time Prue has spoken her mind. In January, she appeared alongside Janet Street-Porter, Lesley Joseph, and Gloria Hunniford on the This Is 70+ special of ITV's Loose Women.

In the episode, the cookery writer declares that she doesn't "even care if I get cancelled" and then indicates that she intends to "make the most" of life and "just have fun".

In addition to her well-known stint as a judge on The Great British Bake Off and appearance on the 2025 series of ITV's The Masked Singer, she's also produced a range of books on cooking and even novels.

Speaking on Loose Women, she said: "Age stinks, come on, it takes me 10 minutes to get myself out of bed in the morning. If I don’t do my exercises, I can’t move.

"There’s all sorts of things that are wrong with old age, you’re very conscious that this is nearly the end." She also added that "you then decide that you're going to make the most of it and have fun."
