August's top new beauty buys: Tried and tested

Thought August was a quiet month? Think again. The beauty world’s booming at the moment with the launch of one wonderful new product after another.

Everyone’s favourite hair styling brand, ghd, has launched a range of new products with a charitable angle: a percentage of the proceeds go towards a breast cancer charity.

Lipstick Queen’s launched a black blusher (don’t worry, it doesn’t appear black when you apply it; it’s designed to blend into skin beautifully), while ECOYA’s released the ultimate summer candle.

Elemental Herbology’s jumped aboard the Korean beauty trend of sheet masks and cult favourite Eve Lom’s launched a new balm gel cleanser that boosts a huge array of detoxifying and nourishing ingredients.

Another top ingredient – Japanese matcha tea – has found its way into The Body Shop’s new pollution-fighting face mask (ideal for city dwellers to add into their skincare routine) and Clinique’s got a new mascara out that will make your lashes oh-so-long and luscious.

Told you it was a good month.

As usual, we’ve tried out every product for you to ensure you won’t be wasting your hard-earned cash on a beauty buy that’s not quite up to scratch. So, go spend that pay check safe in the knowledge that your skin/hair/complexion will be all the better for it.
