Ask Corin: Christmas Day Dressing
Q. I’m hosting Christmas dinner this year, so I need ideas for a comfy yet chic outfit I can wear for hosting while cooking – ideally one that can be vamped up for New Year, too? - Christine, 48
Dressing for Christmas Day can be hard, especially when you’re expected to be the “hostess with the mostess”. After all the prepping and cooking of the Christmas Day feast, the last thing you want to do – or even have the time to – is don a sequin ballgown. Heels and chopping are not quite the heavenly match that cauliflower and cheese is.
Instead, you want quick yet chic options that can be put together with minimal fuss but still make you look and feel great this party season. A combo that I always tend to lean towards is a Fair Isle jumper matched with a sparkly OTT earring(see where to shop below for inspiration). You can style these with your favourite pair of jeans, skirt or your comfy pair of black trousers. Accessories are a great way to add a touch of razzle dazzle to an existing outfit you already feel comfortable in – ideal if you don’t have the time to buy anything new.
Quick little festive fizzes are perfect for vamping up any outfit for Christmas or New Year’s Eve. If you wanted to add even more sparkle, the GH team is obsessed with sequin skirts, and the one below, from M&S, is our favourite. Hope you have a very merry Christmas and New Year!
