With summer just around the corner (well, allegedly), many women will be dreading digging out their swimwear and flashing that little bit more flesh than usual. Especially if it means putting the dreaded c-word on display. Cellulite, that is.

But why has cellulite become such a dirty word? The truth is cellulite is a very real part of many women’s bodies, so why not just embrace it? Well, that’s exactly what model Ashley Graham is doing and she wants other women to do the same.

Taking to her Instagram, the body positive activist shared a photo of herself having a jolly old time riding a bike and not giving a flying frisbee that a little bit of cellulite was on display.

“A little cellulite never hurt nobody,” she wrote in the accompanying caption. “Stop judging yourself, embrace the things that society has called ‘ugly.’ #lovetheskinyourein #beautybeyondsize”

Fans have been quick to show their appreciation of the body positive message with the post attracting 122K likes and almost 3K comments.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Anyone, no matter what their size can have cellulite and no one talks about it because it’s always airbrushed. You are such an inspiration!,” wrote one woman.

“Love it! We need to take (back) pride in our real bodies. Thank you for being a beacon of light and inspiration to so many,” added another.

This isn’t the first time the inspiring model has shouted for women to love their body, no matter its size, shape or stereotypically perceived ‘flaws’.

After making history being the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of Spots Illustrated, she said she hoped the cover would inspire other women to love their bodies.

“I hope women see me embracing my curves in my bikini and feel empowered to do the same,” she told Elle UK last year.

“I have no reason to hide, and neither should any woman. Curves and confidence make a sexy combination.”

So lets all take a leaf out of Ashley’s book this summer and free the cellulite!
