There was never any doubt that Ariana Grande was going to look sensational on her wedding day, but the pop star sent Instagram alight yesterday when she shared images of the moment she married Dalton Gomez in their Montecito mansion wearing the most beautiful Vera Wang gown. Part of the reason that Grande caused such a sensation with her look was not because it was particularly ground-breaking, it was because it was so unapologetically her.

Grande is famous for her playful take on fashion and her trademark high ponytail, both elements of which were key to her wedding-day look.

The singer chose a fitted Vera Wang gown to walk down the aisle, one which didn’t play to any trends and could be described as quite a traditional fit, but it had an unmistakably Ariana twist.

The column gown featured a low scooped back with an exposed bra strap and a scalloped bodice at the front. Although the dress was classic, the details gave it a playful and youthful finish, as did the accessories.

She wore a pair of platform Giuseppe Zanotti heels underneath the gown and accessorised with a short bubble veil with a giant bow, which allowed her to show off her trademark half high-ponytail.

Although the look was partly inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s character Jo Stockton in Funny Face, the ensemble was very reminiscent of the style that Grande has become so well known for. It was young, cool and fun – it exuded confidence and sex appeal but didn't take itself too seriously. This is exactly how Grande presents herself with fashion on a day-to-day basis – and other brides should take note.

With countless options to choose from when it comes to selecting that all-important wedding dress, it is no surprise that many women feel completely overwhelmed and struggle to know where to even begin, worried that they will lose themselves in a sea of ruffles or lace that feels nothing like them.

What Grande proves is that, even if you stick to the classics, you can make a look your own by playing around with your accessories, and embracing those details that feel very much like you.

Of course, not every bride will be able to afford a custom Vera Wang gown, and certainly not every bride would suit the playful aesthetic that Grande pulled off so perfectly, but what we can definitely take from the singer's wedding look is that every bride should channel their personal style as much as possible on their big day.

After all, this moment is all about you.
