One year after winning best supporting actress for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Angela Bassett has returned to the Golden Globes red carpet in style.

A presenter rather than a nominee at this year's show, the actress, 65, was a vision in velvet in an breath-taking, off-the-shoulder Dolce & Gabbana gown.

To add a pop of color to the look, styled by Jennifer Austin, Bassett accessorized the black mermaid dress with a sparkly white clutch and red tassel earrings by Lagos — which paired perfectly with her rosy lip.

Bassett — who made history in 2023 as Marvel’s first acting nomination and win at the Golden Globes for her role as as Queen Ramonda in the Black Panther sequel — is one of many stars who took the Golden Globe stage on Sunday as a presenter.

Amanda Seyfried, America Ferrera, Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Issa Rae, Michelle Yeoh, Oprah Winfrey, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell and more also presented awards at this year's ceremony.

Last year, while accepting her second Golden Globes victory, Bassett wore a silver Pamella Roland halter-neck gown. Stylist Austin paired the gown with Sarah Flint shoes and Chopard jewelry.

While winning her first Golden Globes trophy in 1994 for portraying Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It, she wore a another black gown — a satin-finish dress with a velvet shawl.

In 2023 during her best supporting actress speech, Bassett remembered the year fondly.

“Jan. 22, 1994, I stood on this stage and accepted the Golden Globe for What's Love Got to Do with It. The late Toni Morrison said, ‘Your life is already a miracle of chance just waiting for you to order its destiny.’ In order for the destiny to manifest I think that it requires courage to have faith, it requires patience and it requires a true sense of yourself. By the grace of God I stand here. I stand here grateful for the Hollywood Foreign Press for giving me this honor along with Wakanda Forever.”

Bassett also thanked her team, her husband Courtney B. Vance, whom she married in 1997, and their twins Bronwyn Golden and Slater Josiah during the speech.

Also in the monologue, she honored late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, who died in 2020 at age 43, and reflected on filming the sequel without him.

“Weeping may come in the evening but joy comes in the morning. We embarked on this journey together with love. We mourned, we loved, we healed,” Bassett said. “We were surrounded each and every day by the light and spirit of Chadwick Boseman. We have joy in knowing that with this historic Black Panther series, it is a part of his legacy that he helped to lead us to. We showed the world what Black united leadership [looks like] beyond, behind and in front of the camera.”

“To the Marvel fans, thank you for embracing this character and showing so much love,” she concluded. “We just made history with this nomination and this award. It belongs to all of us.”
