If you're not sure why you might need to upgrade your current Echo speaker, or if you're thinking of buying something similar for the first time, we've got all the information you need on what is it and how it works.
What is the Amazon Echo Pop?
The Echo Pop is Amazon's newest smart speaker that's designed in a semi-sphere shape and is available in charcoal, glacier white, lavender bloom and midnight teal.
It has a custom-designed front-facing directional speaker which provides high-quality, clear sound throughout large rooms, small homes and everything in between.
So what can it do you may be asking? Well, pretty much everything - it can be used to read audiobooks, play podcasts, control compatible smart lights and plugs, tell you the weather, news and other information.
Not only that, it also has a microphone on/off button and the ability to view and delete voice recordings, as well as built-in shutters to cover the camera.
Lastly, it's made from 99% wood fibre-based materials from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources.
How does it work?
Once it lands on your doorstep, setup couldn't be simpler.
Plug it into the mains, connect it to the Amazon Alexa App to enable voice control, and get started.
In order to give Alexa commands, each request needs to start with the word "Alexa". For example, if you want to find out if you need to bring a brolly out with you, you could say: "Alexa, what's the weather forecast for today?"
You can also buy a protective sleeve for the Echo Pop for an extra £19.99 in blue, red, orange, grey, lilac, purple and even glow-in-the-dark.
What do the reviews say?
The Amazon Echo Pop has received 90 mostly four and five-star reviews so far and has an average rating of 4.3.
One person said the size of the device makes it perfect for their bedroom while another noted that while it "does need more base" it provides "excellent quality sound".
Another shopper said they were looking for an easy to use radio in their kitchen and found that the Echo Pop provides that and "so much more".
What's the difference between the new Echo Pop and the original Echo Dot?
The biggest difference between the two is price but both are heavily discounted in the Prime Day sale, the Echo Dot is now just £21.99, while the Echo Pop is £17.99.
Also different is the design of the Echo Pop which has a standard front-facing speaker with no display, while the Echo Dot is a sphere shape to deliver 260 degree audio - hence the bigger price tag,
