Amanda Holden says 'this is outrageous' as Alan Carr takes swipe at 'tacky' taste

Amanda Holden was quick to hilariously hit back at co-star Alan Carr as the star made a cheeky confession.

The duo have made a return to our TV screens tonight, Friday 24 January, as they take on a new project of transforming a run-down house on their BBC show Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job.

The Spanish property had been empty for 35 years before the co-presenters snapped it up. It follows two series of Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job, where they restored cheap, derelict properties in Sicily and Tuscany.

Just moments before the show aired, the duo appeared on BBC's The One Show alongside host Alex Jones and Roman Kemp as they spilled the beans about their new series.

Alex couldn’t help but quiz the stars on whether filming their new DIY renovation series sparked any disagreements.

The TV host asked: "So do more rooms equal more arguments?" to which Alan made a cheeky dig as he confessed: "Well... yeah. We did argue about the big bedroom because her taste is quite tacky."

Everyone burst out laughing as Amanda insisted: "It’s not tacky. I’m very RuPaul in my taste!" Alan continued: "I get so many letters from people but I can’t reply to all of them. They say 'what is she thinking, it’s disgusting and it’s like the 80s have vomited.'"

Amanda was not impressed by the remark as she stepped in and replied: "This is outrageous, no it's not!" Pointing out Alan’s décor choice, Amanda pointed out: "Well he wanted a bidet in our last house, a bidet I tell you!"

Alan defended his choice as he jumped in: "I love a bidet!" to which Amanda said: "Sorry to anyone that has got one but no."

Moving the conversation on, Roman turned to Amanda and pointed out: "You’ve made a certain something about Alan's tea breaks."

Amanda replied: "Oh crikey." Alan then joked: "Oh that’s my worst fault having a brew." Clearing things up Amanda said: "It’s not." Alan insisted: "I drink so much tea. I just love tea so much."

Amanda added: "It’s just too much tea we have to stop on the hour, every hour for tea so this year we got him a flask so we can sit on the beach with your tea." Everyone burst into laughter as Alan joked: "The show is interesting by the way."

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer
