Ally McBeal's Calista Flockhart, 59, shares brutal first impression of husband Harrison Ford, 81
Back in 2002, Calista Flockhart met actor Harrison Ford at the Golden Globe Awards, seemingly unaware that her future husband was standing before her. However, she has admitted it wasn't quite love at first sight, and she wasn't even fully familiar with the iconic star's work.
Ally McBeal actress Calista, 59, reflected on her first impression of Harrison, 81, in a new interview, revealing she was slightly sceptical when she first encountered him at the star-studded awards bash. Speaking to The Times, she hilariously recalled thinking: "This is some lascivious old man and what is he doing at our table?"
Calista's initial reservations may have been because she hadn't seen much of his work. She went on to admit that she'd never watched Star Wars at the time of her first meeting with Harrison, who found worldwide fame for his role as Han Solo in the hit films.
"I had never seen Star Wars, which I know sounds really crazy. But I grew up in a small town without a movie theatre," Calista told the publication.
While sparks didn't instantly fly, Calista and Harrison eventually ended up dating and went on to tie the knot in 2010. The pair are still happily married, with Calista saying that they are opposites who balance each other out perfectly.
The couple's interests contrast hugely, with Calista a fan of peaceful hikes while Harrison enjoys being a pilot - a hobby which, understandably, causes Calista some worries.
"Of course I worry, but I’m happy he’s happy," she admitted. The actress said she's never requested her husband quit flying, as she's accepted it's part of who he is, despite him experiencing several crashes in the past.
Calista is Harrison's third wife. The actor was first married to Mary Marquardt, with the pair tying the knot in 1964 before divorcing in 1979. The former couple share two sons.
Harrison went on to marry screenwriter Melissa Mathison in 1983. The pair separated in 2000, with their divorce being finalised in 2004. Harrison shares a son and a daughter with his ex-wife, who passed away in 2015.
Having met Calista in 2002, Harrison proposed in 2009 and the following year they tied the knot in Santa Fe, New Mexico, while Harrison was filming Cowboys & Aliens. The pair are parents to a son, who Calista adopted prior to meeting her husband.
