Alex Scott gives rare insight into romance with Jess Glynne: 'I’m absolutely enjoying it'

Alex Scott has shared a rare insight into her new relationship, revealing that she's embracing vulnerability. The former England footballer and current pundit has been linked to British singer Jess Glynne since summer 2023.

The couple have made numerous red carpet appearances together, including the BRITs last month, but have rarely spoken about the relationship - although Jess, 34, recently shared that she's "really happy" in the relationship when speaking on Ferne Cotton's podcast.

And now Alex, 39, has opened up about the romance to Women's Health UK, telling the outlet: "I'm in this bubble at the moment... I am more open to accepting and being more vulnerable and I'm absolutely enjoying this stage.

"I'm enjoying being like, okay, I'm just gonna roll with this. I think, before, I was very walls up. All those walls have, like, come down."

The former footballer also addressed her experiences with trolling and racist abuse, sharing that she uses it as a "bit of ammunition to keep going and celebrate" as you're "rubbing all the people like them up the wrong way." She added: "I think it's always how you hold yourself in those situations, instead of coming back in an attack that's why I love someone like Michelle Obama.

"She holds so much grace and dignity and can deliver such a strong, powerful message to be like, here I am, I'm gonna keep thriving... I'm gonna keep killing you with my kindness and doing my job to a level that you cannot stand."

Alex previously opened up about being trolled when she appeared on The One Show alongside fellow former footballer Jermaine Jenas. Speaking about social media trolling, he began: "I know on one of the very first shows we worked on, Football Focus, you were getting trolled at that particular time on Twitter."

Alex replied: "Yeah, I think what we've heard and with everyone speaking out about it now, is I was trying to hide it. I was trying to be brave, put on a brave face but I was really struggling and I know it's now been documented about my mental health issues.

"It was a really tough time and for me the message is: it's okay not to be okay. Everyone goes through different things and it's a way of dealing with it and I have to thank people who still reach out to me to show their support.

During her chat with Women's Health Alex also spoke about how she, musicians Stormzy and Little Simz, and England footballer Bukayo Saka understand how “people made us feel”, as she shared how they are "opening doors" for others to come through.

"It’s not even giving back, it’s throwing it forwards" she finished.
