Ala. Woman Relives Moment She Unexpectedly Gave Birth in a Krispy Kreme Parking Lot: 'Felt Like I Was in a Movie'
"It felt like I was in a movie," Sha'nya Bennett said of welcoming her second baby in a Krispy Kreme parking lot in Dothan on Jan. 22
A mother of two is opening up about the moment she gave birth to her second baby in a parking lot.
In an interview with USA TODAY, published Tuesday, Jan. 28, Sha'nya Bennett relived the moment she gave birth to her son Dallas in a Krispy Kreme parking lot in Dothan, Alabama, on Jan. 22 during a winter storm.
Bennett, 23, made headlines earlier this month when she and her partner were forced to pull into the parking lot of the one of the doughnut chains' stores while they were on their way to the hospital due to her contractions,
"With the roads being icy [and] the snow on the ground, it made it a longer drive,” Bennett, who said she felt her son’s head while they were at a stop light, told the outlet. “We were headed to the hospital and we didn't make it.”
She added, “My water ended up breaking in the car and Dallas started sliding out.”
911 operators assisted Dallas’ father, Keon Mitchell, over the phone, with the healthy baby boy being born before responders could arrive.
“I really don’t know how I stayed calm because I was really scared,” Mitchell told local media outletWTVY-TV.
Bennett added to USA TODAY, "I didn't know what was going on. It just felt like I was in a movie. We've never experienced anything like that. So it was, it was a panic.”

The couple's four-year-old son Legend was also in the backseat of the car while Bennett was giving birth.
“I was in the car just screaming, my son was in the back, asking for my phone to play games on my phone. It was a lot going on at one time," Bennett explained.
The mother of two also shared how not having an epidural was “the most painful part.”
"After that my head just went blank while I was pushing,” she added. “I really don't even remember [the] feeling [of] pushing him out. It was really the contractions for me.”
