One of Scotland’s most successful actors Alan Cumming will return to TV screens this weekend with a new, four-part series Scotland's Poshest Train. In each episode, viewers will be able to follow the train on a particular leg of its journey as it takes guests and viewers on a grand tour of Scotland, taking in the country’s rich history, landscape, and culture.

The actor, who has also had a successful movie career, including films such as Circle of Friends, Golden Eye, Emma, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Eyes Wide Shut, X-Men 2 and the Spy Kids trilogy, embarks on a trip of a lifetime on board the Royal Scotsman, the iconic train that takes guests on one of the world’s greatest rail journeys.

All Aboard! Scotland's Poshest Train with Alan Cumming, which begins Sunday 10th November at 8pm on Channel 4, comes after Piers Morgan and Alan have continued their online feud ever since the revelation that Alan had returned his OBE.

Speaking about the new show, Alan recently said: "I am a Royal Scotsman super fan and each trip I’ve taken aboard has been magical and memorable, so I’m delighted to get the chance to share the magic with Channel 4 viewers."

But away from the show, Alan has an ongoing feud with controversial TV star Piers who has often sparked outrage on X, formerly known as Twitter, to slam the actor’s public statement.

Piers blasted Alan saying the actor’s real reason behind returning his OBE was for "a bit of wokie social media love."

Back in 2023, Alan – who also presents the US version of The Traitors – made an appearance on the Michelangelo Signorile Show on Sirius XM, where he claimed: "I think if you're p***ing off Piers Morgan, you're on the right track! I think that lump of ignorance, if I’m p***ing him off I’m doing the right thing.”

Piers almost immediately retaliated online, sharing a snippet of Alan’s conversation on X and writing to his followers: “Ditto, Mr Cumming” with a few laughing faces.

The broadcaster continued: “Your explanation of your OBE return is so comically disingenuous. You did it for a bit of wokie social media love and (much-needed!) press attention - just admit it.”

In February 2023, Alan announced in an Instagram post that he'd decided to return his OBE award. The Traitors host admitted on the radio show that he had actually returned his OBE “several months ago” but chose to announce it on his birthday.

He confirmed the return as he turned 58, noting he was “incredibly grateful” to have received it but felt that it was no longer necessary.

His statement read: “The Queen’s death and the ensuing conversations about the role of monarchy and especially the way the British Empire profited at the expense (and death) of indigenous peoples across the world really opened my eyes.

“Also, thankfully, times and laws in the US have changed, and the great good the award brought to the LGBTQ+ cause back in 2009 is now less potent than the misgivings I have being associated with the toxicity of empire (OBE stands for Officer of the British Empire).

"So I returned my award, explained my reasons and reiterated my great gratitude for being given it in the first place. I’m now back to being plain old Alan Cumming again. Happy birthday to me!"
