93-year-old bride asks Internet for help choosing her wedding dress
Forget Pippa Middleton‘s big day: this bride’s upcoming wedding is set to go down in the history books.
93-year-old Sylvia Martin is re-marrying and needs your help to pick that all-important wedding dress.
Since this isn’t her first time walking down the aisle, Sylvia has decided to go with a less traditional style and wearing a red frock as she says “I do”.
Sylvia visited Birdsnest – a shop in New South Wales, Australia – to try on four options. The store posted each look on their Facebook page, asking for help from their followers on which dress Sylvia should choose.
The four outfits included a simple two-piece, a more daring lacy number, a floral wrap style and a modern caped dress.
After much to-ing and fro-ing, Sylvia eventually chose the lacy style. Clearly her choice was a popular one as it’s now sold out.
The 93-year-old is getting married to her friend Frank who lives in her retirement village, according to Birdsnest.
Apparently, Frank has asked Sylvia to marry him on numerous occasions. “Sylvia has always refused, thinking that to take a new surname would be disrespectful to her deceased husband,” the store wrote on Facebook.
The story of how the two reunited is as romantic as ever. A year ago, Sylvia became ill and moved back to Canberra to be closer to her family. Frank thought he would never see her again but luckily, she found him after she had recovered.
The pair eventually moved to Canberra together and Frank asked Sylvia to marry him again. “Sylvia had learned that you can keep your own surname when you marry, and so said yes,” noted Birdsnest.
There’s no word of exactly when the marriage will be but we wish Sylvia and Frank all the best.
