This $8 Million Oregon Estate’s Tri-Level Car Gallery Is a Collector’s Dream
For the ultimate auto aficionado, an Oregon mansion with a 12-car showroom and mechanic shop is up for grabs.
On the market for $8 million with Kendra Ratcliff and Terry Sprague of LUXE Forbes Global Properties, the stately spread sits on a whopping 20 acres in West Linn—a suburb about 25 minutes outside of downtown Portland. The palatial pad was the vision of late petrolhead William Wilt and his wife Diane. According to The Wall Street Journal, the couple snapped up the property in 1999 for a cool $750,000 and spent the next two years assembling their dream home, finishing the project in 2001.

“They wanted to create their own little sanctuary,” the Wilts’s daughter, Alisha, explained to the newspaper. On the 20-acre estate, you’ll find four meandering streams, picturesque maple trees, and a natural-looking stone swimming pool. If you’re a car-loving golf enthusiast like William, who died in 2015, the property is nestled right up against two fairways at the award-winning championship Oregon Golf Club.
Of course, there are plenty of auto-centric amenities, including a three-level, 16,143-square-foot workshop that formerly served as the HQ for the seller’s hotrod business, WW Hotrods. The vast space holds a showroom, a mechanic shop, a one-bedroom apartment, plus a game room that is currently outfitted as a 1950s-style diner where William used to host his collector buddies. The replica diner is decked out with everything from a soda shop counter and retro barstools to a professional-grade griddle for slinging burgers and pancakes. For the camper van-owning crew, the grounds also sport a 7,676-square-foot warehouse outfitted with RV pads, so parking won’t be a problem.
Altogether, the opulent main house measures an impressive 13,379 square feet with five bedrooms and six full bathrooms. The mansion is super dramatic in terms of its design, decorated with bespoke millwork, soaring high ceilings, intricate crown molding, tons of warm wood finishes, and a striking spiral staircase. The architectural details pair nicely with the surrounding Mount Hood views, too.
Past the foyer, an expansive living room holds a massive floor-to-ceiling gas fireplace, in addition to a wet bar adorned with granite counters and a built-in ice maker. This floor is also equipped with a formal dining room, a chef’s kitchen, and a family room that opens to an outdoor patio and kitchen. Some of the standout spaces include an indoor pool located just down the hall and on the opposite side, a lavish library with built-in bookcases, lots of richly stained storage cabinets, and two custom gun rooms.
Upstairs, the second level is where you’ll find the primary bedroom, the perfect place of peace and refuge. The room has its own private balcony overlooking the backyard and an ensuite bath. This floor also contains two more guest suites and a theater worthy of a red carpet premiere or, for sports fans, a Super Bowl celebration.
