This 65p cupboard staple will prevent your black jeans from fading in the washing machine
Black jeans require a lot of dye to look they way they do, and each time you wash them, you risk them fading.
We all know the disappointment when we put on our favourite jeans in the washing machine, only for them to come out looking old and worn. But thanks to a pair of Scottish cleaners, this issue could be one of the past.
TikTok creators Hazel Mckinnie and Claire Jenkins - @weescottycleaners - said simply using one cupboard staple in with your washing will keep them looking fresh.

They advised putting table salt in your washing machine alongside your black clothinng to ensure they stay looking brand new.
Speaking on their video, the professional cleaners said: "A wee top tip from the laundry queens themselves. What do you think that salt is next to my dark washing for?
"Well, let me tell you this. See if you have black jeans or a black washing and you want to keep it looking great and stop your blacks from fading, especially your jeans. Well get your jeans turned inside out and a put a tablespoon full of salt in with your washing and it will stop it from fading. It also stops you getting those lines up and down your jeans because the salt locks in the fabric dye that is already there.
"So that is our wee top tip if you're washing black laundry. Get a wee bit of table salt in your machine and I can guarantee you that your blacks won't fade."
Viewers were quick to comment on the laundry tip. One woman said: "Brilliant. Thank you. Will try this on my husband's trousers." Another wrote: "Oh I never knew this. Thanks for sharing. Will definitely give it a go."
And the hack is certainly cheaper than buying new black items. A bottle of salt costs sells for as little as 65p, meaning this nifty hack will cost you only 1p per wash.
