If you're anything like me, then you're anxiously awaiting March 4, aka the day when Meghan Markle's new Netflix special, With Love, Meghan, debuts. Not only because I am a royal fanatic but also because I am incredibly interested in her tips on entertaining, cooking, flower arranging, etc. — very Country Living of her, if I do say so myself.
Until then, though, I'll be scouring every second of the show's trailer and pre-released photos to get some hints of what's to come. And I'm already learning new things, like how on earth the Duchess turned a candle holder into a bud vase.
Bud Vase with Silicone Base
In one of the promo pictures for the show, Meghan is seen hosting a small al fresco meal (with none other than BFF Mindy Kaling) in a greenhouse on the property where she filmed. As to be expected, the rustic wooden farmhouse table is decked to the nines with elegant serving pieces and gorgeous florals. Of note, though, is that the flowers appear to be displayed not in a vase, but...a candle holder?
Your eyes are not deceiving you. The Duchess used a product called the Base Vase, which is simply a bud vase with a silicone base that sticks into basically any taper vase. Meghan uses the bud vase to transform vintage-looking taper candle holders into flower arrangements that bring a touch of whimsy blended with the effortless elegance we've come to expect from the Duchess.
While we might be in the depths of winter right now, finding the Base Vase has me already dreaming of the al fresco lunches and dinners to come in the spring and summer. A candlelit dinner is lovely and elegant on dark winter evenings, but feels out of place when it's still light outside at 7 p.m., while a whimsical flower arrangement feels too casual for some evening get togethers. The Base Vase perfectly bridges the gap between the two. I can't even let myself think about how crazy I'd be going over them if I'd known about them when I was planning my wedding.
Now, if you need me, I'm going to be not-so patiently waiting for the Duchess to drop those recipes she's whipping up in the show.
