In fact, the average cost of a celebrity engagement ring hit £1 million in 2016, according to 77 Diamonds. Many famous faces including Mariah Carey, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce have rings worth a lot more than that.
The trend report also reveals that first timers spend 0.39% of their net worth on their partner’s engagement ring while celebrities who are going for their second marriage will up their game, splashing out around £2.75 million on a rock.
As for the rings themselves, emerald has now replaced oval as the preferred diamond cut while yellow gold is expected to be the big new player in 2017.
