Can you tell apart mother and daughter?

They are mother and daughter - but can you guess which is which?

Joleen is 43 and her daughter Meilani is 19, and the pair are regularly assumed to be sisters.

"When I say 'Mum", like in a store, they'll be like, "Mom? I thought you guys were sisters'," said Joleen.
"And I'm like, 'Oh, no, that's my mum'."

Joleen is an elementary school teacher outside San Francisco and Meilani is a college student. Being the same sized means they can share clothes.

Mum and daughter don't mind being mistaken for sisters because they really do consider themselves best friends.
