Aer Lingus passenger films another plane passing extremely close

A passenger on an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin Airport to Lisbon captured the moment his flight passed very close to another plane passing overhead.

Footage shows a plane flying extremely close to the passenger's flight.

''What constitutes 'a near miss'? This happened on my flight from Dublin to Lisbon yesterday!! Hasn't helped my fear of flying,'' the filmer said on Twitter.

Speaking to Dublin Live the passenger, William Cherry, said there wasn't a wink on the plane as other passengers didn't seem to notice it.

He said: "What constitutes 'a near miss'? This happened on my flight from Dublin to Lisbon yesterday!! Hasn't helped my fear of flying! "

For those unnerved by the clip, the UK's aviation watchdog does have strict rules on how close aircraft can pass in the sky. Below 29,000ft, the distance is usually three miles horizontally or 1,000ft vertically.
