A flight packed with Conor McGregor fans heading to see the Irish MMA star fight Jose Aldo this weekend diverted back to New York after a brawl broke out on board.

The JetBlueplane was around 25 minutes into a five and a half hour flight when the incident occurred.

According to the Mirror, Damien Coyne, a passenger on board the plane, posted a message to Facebook that read: "Seriously p****d off here. Got delayed at JFK because every time the flight attendant tries to read out the safety procedures onboard the aircraft this drink Irish fella kept singing Ole Ole Ole & Oggy oggy oggy.

"So flight crew call the cops and your man gets escorted off the plane."

He added that the fight then took place after that incident, writing: "About 25 mins into a 5 and a half hour flight , these other two Irish lads start kicking off at each other.

Got very heated and one guy, despite everyone on the plane shouting at him to sit down, stuck out and threw a few slaps at the other lad.

"Flight crew go mad, separate the two fellas and now we are on our way back to JFK again!"

According to the Irish Central, Mr Coyne added: "I've been travelling since 10am Irish time yesterday morning to get to Vegas. Now unfortunately for me and a whole packed plane we are all gonna be affected by a few drunk fools. Ruining it for themselves and for everyone else.

"Not to mention the fact that these fellas will probably spend a night or two in jail now & miss the fight altogether."

After the two men were escorted off the plane, the flight continued its journey on to Las Vegas.

The Irish Independent reports that JetBlue confirmed the incident, saying in a statement: "On December 10, a disturbance between customers occurred on JetBlue flight 611 from New York JFK to Las Vegas," a company spokesperson told the Irish Independent.

"The flight returned to JFK, where the aircraft was met by local authorities and the customers were removed. The flight then continued on to its destination."
