David Beckham celebrates 40th birthday with star-studded bash in Marrakech

David Beckham has celebrated turning 40 with a star-studded bash in Marrakech, Morocco.

He hired out the amazing Amanjena resort, where guests enjoyed a traditional Moroccan banquet, and the Victoria and David stayed in a £2,500 a night two-bed villa complete with butler and staff.

He also marked the occasion by joining Instagram, and has already shared a host of pictures of the luxury bash.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player had more than 700,000 followers only hours after joining the social media site.

Victoria has also posted pictures of the celebrations, sharing an image of the pair with their arms wrapped around each other stood by an aeroplane. Her tweet said: "So excited to be celebrating David's birthday x #DB40"

Among the friends that joined Beckham for the big day is Dave Gardner, a football agent who met him when they were teammates in the Manchester United youth set-up, and Mr Gardner's girlfriend, US actress Liv Tyler.

Victoria's fellow Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell, Mel C, and Emma Bunton, as well as her good friend Eva Longoria were also in Marrakech.

Eva shared a picture of the group and joked: "I'm the new Spice Girl! #LatinaSpice @victoriabeckham @emmabunton @MelanieCmusic @gerihalliwell."
