Beautiful ice formations created by freezing fog: Photos

These incredible ice formations were created when freezing fog descended on a mountain range.
The images were captured by photographer Marko Korosec who travelled to the top of Mount Javornik in Eastern Slovenia and noticed that hard rime had been accumulating in the mountains.
Hard rime is a white ice that forms when the water droplets in fog freeze onto a surface.
Marko said: "I immediately went up to see and take photos.
"I imagined the length of the hard rime and ice would be very extreme as the freezing fog conditions lasted for ten days.
"I have seen hard rime once before but it was only 11 inches think, on this trek up the mountain I discovered ice more than 40 inches thick."
Marko, who chases the world's most incredible weather for his images, added: "I was happy with my decision – it was right to go up the mountain – it was definitely the right time. Just a few hours later it all melted."
Marko has been photographing extreme weather for more than 15 years.
He said: "I got involved with photography when I was studying meteorology.
"I wanted to capture extreme moments of interesting weather events.
"Mother Nature is beautiful and I am happy I can live with it, chase it and share it with others who may never get the chance to experience those conditions."
He added: "I have loved observing, studying and photographing natural wonders since I first touched a camera back in the late 1990s.
"I work across the world chasing storms and spend all of my free time in nature observing weather phenomena.
"My photography is mostly focused on extreme weather phenomena and I absolutely love to take pictures."

Dried-out treetops protrude from crystal water in an eerily beautiful liquid landscape - the result of an enormous earthquake more than 100 years ago. As Lake Candy sits 2,000m above sea level, the temperatures here remain icy: they rarely exceed 6C. This coldness has preserved the submerged trees. Great pine cones still remain on the trees underwater from 100 years ago: you can see into the great depths of the lake through the clear mountain water.
The run starts from the opposite side of the lake and ends in Listvyanka, a town on the shores of the vast water source, 60 km south-east of Irkutsk in Siberia.
