Turkish waiter admits to killing two Irish holidaymakers

A Turkish waiter this week admitted to the murder of two Irish holidaymakers.

During his trial, Recep Cetin said he had killed Marion Graham and Kathy Dinsmore, both 53, but his father, Eyup, who is being tried alongside him, was not involved.

According to The Sun, he said: "My father is innocent, yet he has been in prison for one and a half years.

"Camera records show my father was not at the scene at the time of the incident."

Cetin claimed he was suffering from depression because of media coverage of the case and called for reporters to be removed from the courtroom.

He added: "I have read reports claiming I cut off the victims' heads. I murdered them, that is true.

"But the media has reported false allegations."

Ms Graham, from Co Down, enjoyed regular holidays to the Turkish resort of Kusadasi with her daughter Shannon.

It was during one of these trips that Shannon met Recep and embarked on a relationship with him.

Prosecutors allege that in August 2011, when Shannon was 15, Cetin drove Marion and her friend Kathy into some woods, stabbed Ms Graham in the chest and cut Ms Dinsmore's throat.

Eyup Cetin told the court: "I am innocent, yet I am kept in prison."

The case was adjourned until 20 March.

According to the Guardian, the friends were found after Shannon reported that her mother had failed to turn up for a planned boat trip off the resort of Kusadasi.

Recep, who worked in a Kusadasi restaurant where both the Graham and Dinsmore families often ate during their holidays, allegedly told detectives that he lured the two women away promising them a tour of Izmir.

Local reports said Recep claimed he decided to kill the women because Ms Graham was standing in the way of his marriage to her daughter.
