11 Incredible Cakes That Aren’t What They First Seem - #mylittlebigvictory

There are some seriously talented bakers out there. Bakers that can make BBQ chicken wings out of chocolate and gravity-defying cakes that look like strawberries with cream being poured all over them. Yes, really. Feast your eyes on these…

This gorgeous, gravity-defying strawberries and cream cake was made by the award-winning cake artist Laura Loukaides. It’s perfect, right down to the splashes made by the cream and the glossy strawberries bobbing about in the bowl.

Heather from the blog Heather Drive made this sandcastle cake for her daughter’s beach-themed second birthday. Looks pretty realistic, doesn’t it? Head on over to Heather’s blog for a step by step tutorial on how you can make one, too.

Box of Crayons

Seriously. This crayons-shaped cake was created by Charm City Cakes in Baltimore. They tell us that “the individual crayons are made from gumpaste - a sugar-based material we use that is similar to fondant but allows for more detailed modelling.” Brilliant.

Hands up who wants this cake? It was made by the brilliant Debbie of Debbie Does Cakes, who has also made other incredibly realistic cakes including a Subway sandwich, a newspaper and coffee - and an ostrich. You can see more of her work on her website.

It’s mind-blowing to think that this giant doner kebab is actually a cake. Packed with detail, this is another creation from Laura Loukaides. Can’t. Stop. Staring.

Laboutin Pump

Another show-stopper of a cake, this one by La Cupella Cake Boutique, based in California. The cake (base) is small - just 6″ x 6″ square, and the Laboutin shoe is made from gumpaste with real Swarovski crystals added. The flowers are made of gumpaste, too. LOVE.

Chicken Wings

OK, so this isn’t strictly a cake, but I couldn’t resist including it, because it will still mess with your brain. These BBQ chicken wings are actually made out of chocolate, and the sour cream dip is really buttercream. The celery’s not actual celery either - it’s made from sugar. It’s another creation from Debbie Does Cakes. Mind blown. Seriously.

Mini Burgers

More burger cakes, but these are mini ones. Aren’t they gorgeous? They were made by Kris at the blog Young Married Chic. They’re made from chocolate and vanilla cakes - and the sesame seeds on top add the final touch. Find out how to make them over at her blog.
