A new study shows the best commuter towns for 2019 and it's good news for those considering to move out of the city.
Commuting into London for work can be both expensive and time-consuming. With over-crowded trains, delays and ticket fares climbing year-on-year, it can be off-putting for anyone considering the commuter life.
In new research released today, TotallyMoney, have unveiled a list of the best commuter towns based on average house prices, length of train journey into the capital and the cost of a season ticket.
Cheshunt in Hertfordshire comes in on top, with just a 26-minute commute into the centre of London and £384,248 for the average house price. In second came Waltham Cross, also in Hertfordshire, with just a 28-minute journey and average property price tag of £390,612. As reported in the study, these are two of the best places to consider if you want to move out of the city centre, but commute in.
High Wycombe, Broxbourne, Hatfield, Overton and Basingstoke also all ranked in at the top 10.
For the second year running, Virginia Water in Surrey comes in at the bottom. With an average property price of £1.1 million, over a 45-minute journey into Waterloo and an annual ticket price coming in at the £4,000 mark, it’s been named as the commuter town to avoid.
