Zuhair Murad Looks to the Northern Lights for Pre-Fall 2025

Zuhair Murad took his classic shapes and looked to the stars for a dreamy pre-fall collection. The Lebanese designer’s inspiration this season was wintry sparkle of snow and stars against the night sky, putting forth a collection strong on contrast of black and white.

Snowflake shapes were laser-cut into cotton day dresses and a crisp white coat, used as sequin details on jackets and bustiers, and positioned strikingly as the pattern in his lace.

Elsewhere he used the brilliant blues, greens and pinks of the aurora borealis as inspiration for gauzy prints on colorful gowns and caftans — a shape he introduced three seasons ago that has become one of his most popular items — and as key colors in this collection.

Murad turned the tables on the tuxedo this season, buttoning high-necked jacket dresses low at the back for an unexpected exposure of skin, as well as soft sequined suiting.

He tied it all together with traditional Viking knots, which are used in embroidery on tops, dresses and jackets.

The designer also continued to evolve his monogram on accessories, and it morphed into an almost lightning bolt ZM this season.

The designer’s second collection for Marina Rinaldi will debut in March, and the collaboration has led to Murad’s exploration of new silhouettes, including drop waists, forgiving tie waists and voluminous sleeves. He’s been expanding his range with pieces that are more flowing, such as a pleated silk jersey dress in dreamy periwinkle blue, and versatile shapes for different body types.

But there was still plenty of Murad’s signature sexiness in sequined minidresses and crop tops, plus the red carpet-ready gowns that make him a go-to come awards season.
