The Queen gave a rare and powerful speech to the nation in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic last night (5 April).

She thanked key workers for their tireless work, saying "every hour" of work "brings us closer to a return to more normal times".

"While we have faced challenges before, this one is different," the Queen said.

"This time we join with all nations across the globe in a common endeavour, using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal. We will succeed - and that success will belong to every one of us.

"We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again," she concluded.

Now, her granddaughter Zara Tindall has reacted to the speech.

Speaking live from her home in Gloucestershire on Good Morning Britain today (6 April), Zara said:

“Obviously, we’re very proud and what she said is completely, 100 per cent what the country needed. I hope everyone listens and we can try and get back to normal and as we’re trying to do today, support our NHS as much as we can,” she said.

Zara went on to talk about being involved with Equestrian Relief fundraising to raise money to support the NHS.

“Obviously all of us are at home and those guys are on the frontline, fighting this war, so we want to try and do something to help them, to support them, so we’ve got five teams of equestrian greats doing five challenges. I think we’re all doing two challenges each and trying to use our competitive edge to try and raise some money and have a little competition against each other,” she said.

Zara isn't the only member of the royal family offering her support for the NHS.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge surprised NHS workers with a heartwarming message to staff and all those battling coronavirus on the frontline.

“We’d just like to say from the two of us how proud we are of all of you and how amazingly you are all doing under extreme circumstances,” Prince William is heard saying in a video posted on Instagram.

“I know all of you see this as your job and that you get on with it, but this is a different level and you are doing an incredible job.”

The senior royal added: “The whole country is proud of you, not just us, we really mean that. So thank you for everything you’re doing and all the hours you are putting in.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6.30am on ITV.
