Zara McDermott 'hinted' at Sam Thompson split TWICE in days before shock announcement
Zara McDermott seemingly hinted she had split from boyfriend Sam Thompson days before it was reported they had gone their separate ways. The former Love Island star took to Instagram to share a post reflecting on what she was grateful for in 2024 ahead of 2025.
In the reflection, posted two days before Christmas, the 28-year-old didn’t make any reference to Sam, although it went largely unnoticed at the time, as she shared a few photos including him in her montage. “ I am incredibly grateful for everything 2024 brought to me. I am also really proud of myself for what I have achieved…” she began in the lengthy caption.
“My first two creator credits on my documentaries, two new shows commissioned (!!!). I carried on my work in the violence against women space, and have been working on my documentary about stalking since the start of 2024 with my incredible team. I also started presenting my own segments on Morning Live, which is a huge dream come true. Hugely, I started my own business that launched into both F&F at Tesco and New Look in the first year. I became an ambassador for my two favourite brands, L’Oreal Paris & Sol De Janeiro. I was on the London Underground on huge billboards TWICE! And one of those times I got to share it with my Mumma,” the star continued.

“I got to take my Mummy to Buckingham Palace, and experience the magic of that alongside the woman who made me who I am today. I love you mummy!!” the star exclaimed, before concluding: “We went on some beautiful holidays to Ibiza and Dubai and I got to take my baby goddaughter on our first holiday together with my best friend!!! What a year. Here’s to 2025.”
However, one eagle eyed fan took to the comments to question: “So, no Sam this year??” Earlier this week, it was reported that Sam and Zara had called it quits after five years together. The couple raised eyebrows when they spent the festive season apart, and earlier this week a source claimed to MailOnline this week: "Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It's been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other."
Neither Sam or Zara have publicly addressed the rumours, although the former Made in Chelsea star took to Instagram on New Years to express how excited he was for the upcoming year.
"New year! 2025 baby come on let's have it! I can't wait. The New year is going to be amazing and you're going to have the best year ever. And you know I'm always right," he gushed before appearing to plant a kiss on his camera.
